What it does and why

The simplest version of earnings momentum: find companies whose quarterly profits are growing strongly both compared to the same quarter last year (year-on-year) and compared to the previous quarter (sequential). When a business grows earnings on both dimensions simultaneously, it means growth is neither seasonal nor a one-time event — it is real and compounding. Strong quarterly growth typically attracts institutional attention and re-rating. This screener catches companies in the middle of that acceleration, before the broader market fully prices it in.

The rule, step by step

A stock must satisfy every condition below. Conditions are grouped under the pillar they test.

Earnings Momentum

  • Promoter Holding Change QoQ > 0
  • FII Holding Change QoQ > 0
  • DII Holding Change QoQ > 0

Hard excludes

  • Promoter pledge above 30% of the promoter's holding
  • Market cap below ₹500 crore

EPS Growth (Year-on-Year, %)

The percentage change in earnings per share compared to the same quarter one year ago. Strips out seasonality — a good year-on-year comparison means the business is genuinely larger than it was 12 months ago.

High is better

EPS Growth (Quarter-on-Quarter, %)

The percentage change in earnings per share compared to the immediately preceding quarter. Captures the direction of the business in real time.
