Capacity Expansion

Capacity Expansion is a Quality & Compounders screen. It checks every NSE-listed stock against 2 conditions computed from nightly data, after excluding heavily pledged promoters and very small market caps. This page explains the rule, each figure and its source. It lists no stocks and is not advice.

What it does and why

When a company doubles its fixed assets — factories, machinery, plants — it is making a bet on its own future. Capital expenditure at this scale is difficult to reverse and signals that management has strong conviction about demand growth. Companies that expand capacity while maintaining healthy operations are investing in the next phase of their growth story. This screener finds companies that have made such a commitment: either doubling fixed assets over 3 years or growing them by at least 50% in a single year. The risk is that the capacity comes online into a weaker demand environment — capex is a forward bet, not a guarantee.

A stock must satisfy every condition below. Conditions are grouped under the pillar they test.

Hard excludes

  • Promoter pledge above 30% of the promoter's holding
  • Market cap below ₹500 crore

What each figure means

Fixed Asset Growth (3 Years, %)

The percentage change in net fixed assets (property, plant, and equipment) over the past 3 years. A value of 100% means the company has doubled its fixed asset base over three years.

High is better

Fixed Asset Growth (1 Year, %)

The percentage change in net fixed assets compared to the prior year. A value of 50% means the company has added half again as much capacity as it had a year ago.

High is better

Capital Expenditure / Revenue (%)

Total capital expenditure as a percentage of annual revenue. Measures the intensity of investment relative to the current size of the business.

This is a historical, statistical measurement produced by FINOME TECHNOLOGIES PVT LTD's research harness on past data. It is not a prediction, and past results do not indicate future results. The universe is today's Nifty 500 constituents, so the sample is affected by survivorship bias. How often does the screen update?
The figures are recomputed once each trading day after the nightly compute. A stock whose figures are more than three days old is left out rather than shown stale.
